Glastonbury 2017

What a difference a year makes…. I have flashbacks of last years Glastonbury and sometimes they make me quiver… The mud, the rain and the Brexit vote all playing a huge role in the atmosphere. The heavy Sunday meth induced comedown of no sleep, sitting in mud and drizzle nursing a Guinness with too much head on it and of course the tragic news of Pritchards passing – I saw the festival as test for the 3 months of globe trotting and festival adventures I was about to embark on. So 12 months and 10 festivals later I was due…

Day for Night & Houston, Texas

‘Yea? Why would you come to Houston?’ asked the older local in wonder and realization before taking a light of a huge spliff that resembled a prop from a Cheech and Chong movie and put it in his mouth. I was making conversation with the fella’s around us before The Butthole Surfers were due to take stage. Back together after in their home state of Texas after 6 years in the ether, a band famous for their live performances and rare UK tours was the tipping point for what made Nags and me cave in and buy tickets for…

Boom 2016!

I decided to sit in front of the ride taking us to BOOM land. Whatever it was that had cause me to puke all over the same spot of the airport twice already this morning didn’t seem like it was settling anytime soon. All I could hope now was that I could make it to the festival without further disruption. The last heave contained the grapes I had for breakfast. There was nothing else I could have possibly left to bring up, aside from the water I was drinking in attempt to reconcile for the amount I was heavily sweating.…

Ozora

Of all the stops on my festival Odyssey Ozora was the one I was least looking forward to. 8 days of militant psy-trance – a genre that I have never been a fan of and that I was going to have to tolerate entirely alone. I very nearly considered bailing on the whole thing. It was the first festival since my 2 and a half-week break and in that time I was taking great pleasure in wondering around foreign cities aimlessly, making new friends in hostels and trying and failing to chat up a series of Parisian women. All this…

Sun, Sex and Psychedelics – BOOM 2014 review

‘The fucking gauze was in there the whole time!’ I laughed to myself whilst sat on a rock on the shore of the lake. I’d just spent a further 40 minutes trying to track down another stall to sell me a sheet for my pipe after I assumed I lost it whilst fucked along with the second pack of fags in the space of a few hours. To be fair to myself I had spent the day drinking, and the evening shoveling trips and pills inside of me. ‘fuck it’ I thought, just bang the lot. I perched myself onto…

Glastonbury 2013

It always takes me a week to gather up my thoughts on the annual Glastonbury festival and again this year has been no exception. It’s been a standard recovery, I’ve mainly been boshing valium and getting pissed. I spent an evening with a very lovely lady. I missed out on another dream job. Took a trip to Brighton to see a very dear friend and clear my head but spunked a load money in a strip club whilst there. I then cycled the near 60 miles home. It was a nice trip and a visit to see Michelle always clears…
